The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) is used to determine student achievement toward state standards in the subjects of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and  Science.

English Language Arts-- the English Language Arts assessment is given in an adaptive format to all 9th grade students within the April/May testing window. * 

Math- the adaptive math assessment is typically given to all high school students one time during their time in high school.  High school students taking Algebra 1 for the first time will sit for the Algebra 1 assessment in the year they are enrolled in the course (for example: if a student is taking Algebra 1 their sophomore year, they will sit for the Algebra 1 assessment in the spring of their sophomore year).  Students who took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, will sit for the Geometry assessment at the end of 9th grade.  Similarly, students who took Geometry in 8th grade will take the Algebra II assessment at the end of 9th grade.*

Science- the non-adaptive science assessment is given to all 11th grade students in the spring of their junior year.*

*a student who has the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) listed  in their IEP will not sit for the NJSLA assessments.  See the DLM tab for additional information regarding DLM testing.
